During this pandemic, a majority of device manufacturers such as Realme, OnePlus, Oppo, Honor, Asus, Nokia, Vivo and Samsung are providing an extended warranty for the devices whose warranty ended during the coronavirus outbreak. Although the announcement has been made simultaneously, the extended warranty provided would differ from company to company. So, users of different brands will get different durations of extended warranty. Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei decided to extend the warranties on these devices so that the users can receive seamless service and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The warranty period of Honor devices including smartphones, wearables, headsets, and accessories has been extended until June 30 if the existing warranty fell between March 21 and June 21, 2020.
After the announcement from Honor, its parent company, Huawei, also made a similar announcement. It went a step further and launched the doorstep repair service for its smartwatches in India. “We’re here to support you! As a gesture of good faith, we have extended the warranty on all smartphones, smartwatches, headsets, chargers, etc. to 30th June’2020, whose warranty expires between 21st March 2020 to 21st June 2020.”, in a tweet by Huawei India Soon, OnePlus and its BBK Electronics counterpart, OPPO, announced that they would offer additional warranty to users whose smartphone warranty expires between 1st March and 30th May and after 23rd March, respectively. OnePlus is not only providing extended warranty but is also providing an extended return and replacement duration. Earlier, the return/replacement duration was 15 days, but now OnePlus has increased it to 30 days while providing free shipping on all returns, replacements as well as repairs. Recently, Samsung India, along with Motorola and its parent company, Lenovo, decided to offer extended warranties as well. Realme also informed that it has extended the warranty timeline until May 31. It is applicable for featured phones whose warranty was expected to end between March 20 and April 30, 2020. For cases related to replacement / return time, the company has decided to increase it from 15 days to 30 days. Another global brand, Oppo has also increased the warranty period until May 31 for devices with expiring warranty on March 23, 2020. The extended warranty service is inclusive of Oppo smartphones and accessories, “In view of the ongoing pandemic and precautionary measures being taken, OPPO India, today announced its support to the customers by extending the warranty services for OPPO smartphones, accessories and even the customer service offers,” an official statement from Oppo Asus also announced via a press release that it is offering its customers having devices such as smartphones, desktops, laptops, and tablets with extended warranty. It is on the condition that their warranty period should fall between March 25, 2020, and April 14, 2020. The extension is for a period of 30 days. “Abiding to the lock-down rules, we have our online support active for consumers even under the current circumstances but have had to temporarily pause service through our onsite service operations and service centres. We understand these tough situations and we would like to ensure peace of mind, of our customers by extending the warranty support by one month on ASUS and ROG products, whose warranty was expiring during the lockdown period,” in a press release of Asus For Nokia phone owners, the warranty period when expiring between 15th March and 15th April 2020 has been extended by 45 days. Vivo has also made an announcement on an extended warranty on its devices. For featured and smartphones if the warranty period is expiring between 1st March to 31st May 2020, the timeline has been extended by 90 days. Whereas the replacement period, if falling between 15th March to 30 May 2020, the period will be extended till May 31. Samsung is also not left behind in these tough times. It too has announced an extension of warranty on all its products until May 31, 2020.
